Al was born in Connecticut, but grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. He attended Wofford College and Auburn University. After graduating from Auburn with a degree in mass communications, he worked in the radio business in Alabama, Georgia and Texas and achieved his goal of owning his own FM Radio station before hitting age 30. In 1984, Al and his business partner, Sanders Hickey, started KTLT-FM in Wichita Falls, Texas. Al says that the radio ownership was quite rewarding, but the best part about living in Wichita Falls, was meeting his wonderful wife, Karen. Al and Karen were married in 1988 in Texas and relocated to Atlanta after selling the radio station. Al continued in marketing and advertising and worked for Katz Communications and CBS Broadcasting in Atlanta. After reading several books on real estate investing, Al purchased rental homes in the Atlanta area and continued to manage several hundred acres of land near Augusta. In 2004, he decided to pursue real estate full time. He got his real estate license and joined Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. In less than five years, Al became one of the top Coldwell Banker agents in Atlanta and in the top 4% nationwide in sales volume. In 2010, he ranked 16th in the company and in 2011 ranked 14th (out of approximately 1,000 other Coldwell Banker agents). Al attribute his success to hard work, applying his marketing experience and truly loving what he does for a living.
